I was looking to get on a diet to build lean muscle mass. I don’t want to gain a lot of fat just build some muscle to increase my physique. How much protein should I consume and should I be mixing my drinks with things like soy milk instead of regular milk?
No Soy! Soy has phytoestrogens and many other things you don’t want. You should shoot for about .5 to 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight. And you should try and get most of your protein from whole for sources. That being said, Whey protein is a high performance functional food that can definitely aid in recovery and improve your immune function. And if a muscle is stimulated properly, whey can help repair and build new muscle tissue.

why do you need protein? if you’re a vegetarian you’re already getting enough soluble proteins…
of course do not get them from dairy, that’s an inflammatory food with insoluble proteins.

lean protein mass a good shake would be Pro-nos or Muscle-milk. You want to take 1g of protein for however much you weigh. If you weigh 140 you want around 130g of protein.

Get at least 0.7grams of protein per pound your weigh. more is better. Mix your protein shakes with skim milk, fat destroys insulin

Check out this article. It says we need about .4 for each lb. of bodyweight. Any more could be dangerous (kidney problems), and most people are brainwashed into thinking they need much more than this

There has been a lot of debate about that. I would suggest no more than 1g per pound of body weight because anything over that could be putting too much strain on your kidneys.

Instead of shooting for a set amount of daily total grams of protein, aim to consume a protein source every meal of the day. If you are speaking of whey protein with the milk, that is not the best idea because the milk will show down digestion time. Stick with water.
